Writer Jane Christmas wrote a spirited but inaccurate editorial on marijuana.
Had Jane done her research she would realize that the UCLA has done a study that shows marijuana smokers and far less likely to develop lung cancer. Jane may already know that you can vaporize or eat medicinal marijuana baked goods and avoid combustion altogether.
In fact, if Jane had looked a little deeper than knee-jerk reactions, she may have learned that marijuana holds anti-cancer properties. The human body has a cannabanoid system designed to get relief with marijuana. Marijuana has been used medicinally for hundreds of years becoming illegal in the 30's to protect the paper industry and to create racial divide.
Jane also might know that marijuana is available as a pharmaceutical agent in the US as Marinol and in Canada as Sativex. However, these preparations are expensive and insurers regularly deny them and they don't work for everyone.
Jane, marijuana helps very sick people feel better, what is wrong with that?
