NATIONAL EXPRESS
Well, what can we say? We can't make judgements or draw any conclusions but it's rare for the Police to arrest someone without probable cause. It's a sad day for coaches all around the country if this guy was over the limit. Yes, coach travel is safe, but are the drivers is the question we need to ask. I would like to hear your thoughts on this subject and pray that no-one loses their fight due to this crash. As with the last incident our thoughts are with the families, and despite his current status, our thoughts are with the family of the driver. We all make mistakes but I can say with a clear conscience that I never once went on a bender or even had a glass of wine the night before I drove...got hammered on rest days but as I have said before, a general rule of thumb is 12 hours from 'beering to steering'. I hope that National Express learn lessons from this accident and take note that random breath-testing, while effective in some cases, failed in this case. Perhaps it's time for the 'Cab Breath-Test' or the 'no blow, no go' system that someone devised a few years back. It's terribly sad when you can't trust your staff but the public must be protected at all times. It is the core of what we stand for, or least, that's what I thought. Simple rule guys and gals - stay safe, stay stable and stay sober. |
