I would like more information on custom calendars. I want to change some reports to execute on certain days instead of by date. I looked in the CRD manual for more detailed instructions and still cannot figure out how to do this.Please help.

Custom calendars are not available in all editions. You can see which edition is best for you by looking at the edition functionality matrix.

To test out the use of custom calendars, download the evaluation edition and set it up on a test PC. This has all features in it and you will find that the custom calendar facility is quite intuitive.
