Hi - I'm planning to buy a DAC within a month or two and currently I'm investigating/listening my way through some "contenders" - the LA 100 beeing one, of course.
One thing that worries me is that the LA appears to lack support for anything above 24/44.1 24/48. Since I buy online in "master"-format, typically 24/192 this means that I don't get full effect of that format, as I understand it.
So I was wondering, will there be any upgrades to the LA 100 alllowing it to support that format? (over USB - since thats the only possible way for me)
We know the 192/24 is more and more important, but unfortunately we have not yet been succesfull in making a stable solution on USB. But on Coax digital in, 192/24 is handled perfect.
Next year we will have a solution, and then we will make it possible for customers to upgrade LA100.
Remember also that even though it is 192k/24bit it will be played by the LA100 without problem (you dont have to do anything), because it downsampled to 48kHz.
The 24bit/192KHz can run in USB mode or in all mode？
The 192/24 bit mode is only running on the Coax input.
Usb is 48k max (But yo will not notice it becasue Windows/MAC OS will downsample automatically).
It will be a new device. 192/24 requires special chipset, licences and drivers. So it is not that easy to do. We have a plan for external usb->spdif (96/24), so people can upgrade LA100 this way.
When it will be available for buying?
Right now we have a prototype working. Latest will be at the Munich High end show in may.
Then I wait for new device)
And another question:
24/192 USB sounds like 24/192 S/PDIF?
la-100 has 24/192 or 24/96 TOSLINK?
The Coax is 192/24, the optical is 96/24. Best regards
