football and drugs

so with bonds and clemens, convicted or under investigation, and 2 women track stars, that used hgh or steroids, how long will it be before the NFL is under investigation. how will drug investigations impact semi-pro football? although there are appearant users in these leagues, will these leagues start testing, or "brush it under the mat". i know testing will be expensive, but is it even necessary. On average how many players use injectables, or oral preformance inhancing drugs. does it even help.

Re: football and drugs

nobody is going to want to pay for a drug test for gear. it wont have a effect on semi-pro ball either, cosidering the expense for tests. im sure there are a lot of players who use. weather you pop some d, or inject test, it does make a difference and there are some who will do anything to win, myself included.

Re: football and drugs

Now I dont think anyone will tell who they are or what team they play for, but I can tell you its out there and I know several that I play with that use. You can deny it all you want but I know there are guys that would use it if they had a reliable source.

Re: football and drugs

I'd rather not turn my balls into raisins, y'all go ahead! If somebody is taking that crap at the semi-pro level, woohoo, what an accomplishment, you must be more pro than semi! Look at me, I'm huge, pissed off and stupid!

Re: football and drugs

One must learn the proper way to grow naturally before resorting to AAS and then once that individual has learned how to eat big and train correctly he/she must learn the science/chemistry behind AAS and how it affects your body. What people dont realize is that most users of anabolics (who actually know what they are doing and do it right to maximize gains and minimize side effects) have researched countless hours on proper usage of AAS and its side effects. AAS asisst you in growing muscle, yes that is right they assist you, not magically make you huge in 1 night. It takes heavy intensity in the gym, proper rest for muscles to grow, LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of food that the average person would NOT be able to eat or handle. Its ignorant people who do no research or dont eat and train right to begin with, that have problems with side effects. Its like any other substance, if you abuse it, it will hurt you.

The United States Congress added steroids to the Controlled Substances Act as an amendment known as the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 1990. Steroids were now placed in "Schedule III" classification, along with amphetamines, methamphetamines, opium, and morphine, and carrying the same penalties for buying or selling them. This legislation and classification was passed WITHOUT the support of the American Medical Association, the FDA, the DEA.

Re: football and drugs

If someone feels they need to take steriods, hgh, whatever to compete in semi-pro football, that is their issue. I'm sure when they're 60 years old, can't move their joints, can't find their testicals, can't find their family or MONEY, but possibly have a semi-pro championship ring, they'll figure out if it was worth it.

I'm sure the guys who spend money on "juice" are the same ones who complain that they can't afford players fees and/or equipment.

As a league president, I know we would never be able to test, or even want to test. Guys can build this up as much as they want, but if we are realistic, it's semi-pro ball. Nobody is getting paid!!! I can somewhat understand why PROFESSIONAL players would use it. Their careers are on the line each week. If you get hurt, you need to get "well" asap. If everyone else is using, there is that fear of being left behind. At the combine, they test how fast you can run, or how much you can bench. They don't test how clean you are...even though they SAY they test. So these guys don't wanna be sitting at home saying, "Well, I was good enough to make millions of dollars, but I chose not to take HGH."

The sad thing is I've heard guys BRAG about using to be better at this level of ball. That just shows that some of us don't have lives outside of semi-pro ball.

I could probably pick out the guys who would spend money on HGH for semi-pro ball. They're the ones who buy a $400 Ford Escort, then spend $3000 on a HUGE spoiler, new tires and rims and a speaker that fills the entire backseat.

That's my 2 cents on the subject.

Re: football and drugs

I like your view that you put on the drugs and semi pro football. I agree with the majority of it, however there are a few guys that play at this level that are looking to make it to the next level, they take this stuff to allow them to have better times and strength when they go to various combines.
If you do this in moderation and dont abuse it then you will be fine. It is those who think they need to bench 600 pounds and take this for several years that encounter the problems. I know of people who take "test" to get to a weight they need to be then quit. Once they get to that point they are able to maintain it. As for "test" your body naturally produces it so its not a foreign substances in your body. Its just increases your total testosterone level to allow you to achieve size and strenght at a greater rate.
Do I think people should take this stuff for a long period of time? NO. Putting your body at risk and messing up things in your like for a ring is crazy. Like you said we all have more important things in like other than semi pro football. For those who dont need to take a step back and take another look.
This is just my 2 cents, not saying that Im right or wrong.

Re: football and drugs

Troy has zero test in his body. and that's my fifty two cents

Re: football and drugs

Illegal inhancers at this level of play is CRAZY!

I mean, if you truly want to make it to another level, don't waste your time playing semi-pro. Save your gas money up, get a personal trainer, and/or a gym membership...and LIVE to work out. If you truly are a player, the semi-pro level is not gonna help you improve your skills. You just need to get bigger and stronger, then try out for some low level professional teams. That is where you will get noticed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the semi-pro level was for guys who LOVE the game...and play for fun, the friends, and the occasional bragging rights.

Word to your mothers...

I agree with you 100% Hoss. We are out here because we love to play the sport of football. There are seveal people out there that would love to do what we do on Saturdays.

Re: football and drugs

I believe it is well known about NFL players using steriods even crack hash and coke. But they don't lie. One of my fav players admitted to using steriods and i am okay with it. Because i find it more useful in football than in a game where you swing a wood stick at a ball or run around in circles.
