Some good motivational storie, but now I'd lke to hear this..
If you had to assemble an all time best semi pro team from players you played with or against..what would it be?
You can use-name players current, or players based on the time when they played.
Try to name two players at each position.
I know I would already name the Clawson Brothers to my list along with the Guru, but Ill need some time to put it all together...
This should be really interesting!
From my time playin with the chiefs. Have to start with the goodwell brothers from the elkhart grizzlies FB- Jhonson Grizzlies
TB- COL- think his name was Gillmore
TB- Martin SB Stampede think he played
the grizzlies also.
WR- COL had two good ones and robert redd
he was just an athlete.
Stampede,COL, or Chiefs O-line full of
Big Boys. Cant forget hendricks at
Defense i would take SB stampede D-line, had a d-end who was a beast, jenkins i think,COL linbackers, goodwell bros at corner. Played with or against alot of ballers. QB- digiacomo SB. Might seem a lil biased but at the time chiefs, stampede and COL could be put in the same boat with the mighty seminoles!
QB- Pual SB Stampede
TB- Corey Martin SB Stampede &
Jason Bassage SB Vipers
David Goodwell SB Vipers
FB- Wesley SB Vipers (ran like a tank)

DB- Tracy Sheppard SB Stampede & Shamrock

I know this seems like a bias list, but if these guys were to get back together for even one year right now, they would be on their way to a championship ring for sure. I know there are some other names that have slipped by me, but this would be my dream team.

Larry was actually very, very good. He hit a 50 yarder (field goal) against the Rage in 1999 and hit allot of crucial kicks for us that year.
(Not to mention bailing me out whn I spiked the ball after a TD that year, and after the penalty - hit a 28 yd P.A.T )
I never thanked him for that, but was TOO Glad cause Coach Zent was about to kill me!
I saw a game a few years ago between the Cougars and the Warriors and #1 - the LB for the Cougars was an animal. So was #29 who played both DB and WR.
The Warriors had a WR that was super tall and pretty good. Thier LB #2 was also really good and the Safety #12 was all over.
( sorry, I havent seen enough to give a whole list )
Yeah Brian I remember that game. What a great celebration though, dropping the hand grenade & every falling down. I think you gave the ref no choice in that one. Hey, remember when the whole defense did the worm during the Stampede days??? That was hilariuos...
I do remember that, but they didnt get flagged like I did!
I wonder if anyone knows that we ( actually, it was that one wr who invented the team logo) was the one who made up that celebration. ( BEFORE the Ravens started doin it ) I forgot hs name, little guy, about 5"6, blonde hair - good hands.
#69.............I can see where that question was necessary.........not really, but there will be alot of anwsers when the season starts, thats all that matters........lol.......lol.......lol.......lol

What cracks me up the most is people take time to read and then write who the best is within the league. MFL, I have to say the best is the Patriots, the 2nd best is the bearcats, 3rd best... You decide and then some... Why i say this is because they proved it. There is no almost best. You are or you aren't. That's like saying in a different post the stampede had the best defense, offense, almost made it to the big game.. Well, you gotta have the best to get there and boys, I have a point on this next line I am about to write... Quit singling out who is the best on your team. That gets you nowhere. The reason why you pick some who are the best is because they shine just a slight over the rest. Your best players can't get you into the big game. Your team does. That's why whenever I read this post, I didn't see any previous people say anything about the Pats or Cats... Think about it, they did it as a team. Not individuals... Get ur helmets on and straight.
There is no "I" in team. There is simply a team. Instead of wasting time being the best, Prove you are, just not in a self centered way. This is MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL. Just a step up from Pee Wee... Nothing more.
I speak for 2 teams, not myself... Who is the best team this year in the NFL? Pittsburgh Steelers. Who is the best quarterback of the year? Who gives a shit... One man succeeded on the field while one man didn't... geeze you guys get paid a lot I am sure... Love of the game
Cracks me up:
You missed the whole point. Why don't you ask how many championship each of those players won. I would say 95% of these players have won a championship. They are all great team players.
Think the post was about best over time, some guys are'nt even playin anymore and it wasnt about who is the best in the mfl if you could read idiot and i think there were some patriots on some guys dream teams. Guess u have to be somewhat intelligent to understand this post. Oh and i think the patriots are in for a rude awakening this coming year!
I havent been around as long as some of you others, but some of the best i seen are def bobby burton, Engleking, milkshake you could def go on and on from bronco players, but theres others like chris grote, dave overla, and i think shean bosworth is def one of the underated guys, sevion was damn good, there was also a guard for the generals that stood out to me, isom, doughit, Id even put goforth up there even though I think hes terrible, lol kiddin duce, I think a damn good young TE john walser is gona be making a name for himself he def broke out last year with the riot and was bar far our leading reciever so hes def one to look out for, thats it i gues im sure theres many more but like i said i havent been around as long as some of ya.
gross if your holding again this year the question thats asked will have the same answer.
lol......lol........lol......I know I was the weak link on the team, tell me something I don't know. You know, all those passes I dropped throughout the season, hopefully, you found somebody else that drop as many. Shouldn't be hard. But the real question is, have you guys found anyone to replace Prater, you know the BEST TACKLE in the league.
Neil, before this gets out of hand on here. I am done, if you want to talk bad about us over in packland, thats ok with me. I reply, because it is fun. It gives me something to do that is fun, you know me, I enjoy talking. You and I both know the truth about our teams and about ourselves, so tell the guys Gross says "HI", and have a great season.
I'd have to go through this list position by position. Been in so many systems, each requires a different type player for a position as anomalous as say center.
Might as well start here.
In a spread, where you need interior gap pluggers and sheer magnitude of size... gonna go with Big Chris from the Hoosier Hurricanes.
In a flexbone, where you need agressive downhill blocking and a motor that amps late in games... gonna go with Larry Paige from the Circle City Soldiers.
If it comes down to a technician with a nasty streak, necessary for Motion I, gonna go with JMack most recently of the Cutters, original Bronco and one time Tornado.
Offset I, Power I and other looping center schemes, gonna go with Brent Baker from the Tornados.
Were somebody to take the time to learn General Neyland's "Eleven Fullbacks offense," would tab Claude Broomes and Cody Harbaugh, Indianapolis Warriors/Indiana Mustangs and South Central Broncos respectively. Won't go into guards over versus tackle over offense with 30 and 80 series nexus, but the best hips and best 40 time respectively here among offensive linemen.
Guess would be remiss if I didn't include Absalom Bryant here. Only played center as far as I know on the Indianapolis All Stars. Sure he filled in at the center position for other teams where he was a defensive stalwart. Probably not as fast as Claude but if anybody matches him in hips, it would be a fellow grappler.
Big Murph from the Circle City Soldiers was a more than capable center that usually played guard, but had a calming effect in the huddle. If you know me, that's a good thing to have around when I'm asking for one lumps or two. Murph has surprisingly good feet for a man of such size, and he is willing to get in a three points stance as opposed to a two in all situations, pass, run or otherwise.
