Tour bus carrying football team collides with SUV

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) — Northeastern Indiana officials say a tour bus carrying a Canadian football team collided today with a sport utility vehicle in far northeastern Indiana, killing one person.

Angola Fire Department spokesman T.R. Hagerty says one person in the SUV was killed and 14 other people were injured in the crash reported about 11:40 a.m. EDT.

Hagerty says the bus was carrying the London Silverbacks of London, Ontario. He says its passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious but none appeared life-threatening.

Twelve people were taken to an Angola hospital with minor injuries and two others were airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital with serious injuries.

Hagerty says the crash occurred near I-69’s Angola exit about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Hopefully the NAFL will recognize the heroism of these players. It's always terrible when there is loss of life in these circumstances, but it sounds like things might have been much worse had the players not acted as they did.

Good luck to the team in their healing, both physical and otherwise.
