Well, gang, it's just about time to get the prediction machine up and running for the 2010 season. I've spent the last few weekends out in the shed getting her ready to go for the long season- but she needs another weekend of tinkering.
So no predictions for this weekend, but please do make sure to post all scores and game details here in this thread- NOT in individual threads below. It's a courtesy to the hundreds (and by midseason thousands) of folks who come here to check the scores. Looks like it will be a hot one this weekend, so make sure to hydrate and bring home lots of details to share with the community.
Good luck to everyone competing and make your mommas proud!
Mid West Force 33
Tri County Raiders 6
I would also like to add that the Raiders came with 20 guys and played a very tough game. I would like to thank the Raiders for coming out and playing in our charity game.
Midwest Force V.P.
Thanks to the Stampede for making the trip.
Ohio River Bearcats 14
Midwest Chargers 14
NFL rules for overtime
Any more details available on the above games?
The Chargers opened up the scoring late in the first quarter on a very nice individual effort from their quarterback who scrambled out of pressure and turned it into a (45) yard touchdown run.
The Chargers' and Bearcats' offenses both struggled against very well prepared and talented defenses. The Chargers O had been averaging over 35 points per game coming in. The defensive front for the Bearcats scored a safety late in the second quarter after a goalline stand by the Chargers left them pinned on the 1 yard line.
The halftime score was 7-2.
The Chargers widened the gap late in the third quarter with a very nice drive that ended in a 10 yard touchdown run.
The Bearcats were down 14-2 going into the 4th quarter.
After being MIA for nearly 2 full weeks, the Bearcats offense put together 2 lengthy scoring drives in the 4th quarter on a rush by Jamison Buck and pass to Dougrue Miles. The Bearcats were unable to convert either PAT attempt and the game remained tied.
In the NFL overtime format, the Bearcats blocked a FG attempt and also stopped the Chargers on the 1 yard line and the game ended in a 14-14 tie.
The Bearcats, Chargers, and River City Eclipse are all in a virtual 3-way tie for first place in their Conference.
On a personal note, I will say that the Chargers were the most athletic and talented team we've ever played, but neither offense looked to be as prepared as they should have been.
