Ohio River Bearcats 35
St. Louis Spirit 8

Despite missing 22 players, we played well on both sides of the ball.

After a slow start due to an opening drive fumble, we were able to pass the ball around easily. I would have to see game film to verify the names and stats, but QB Jamison Buck threw for two first half TD's and FB Jeremey Head rumbled in with another to pace the offense.

Our defense managed to intercept three first half passes, highlighted by rookie LB Michael Rhoads' 60 return for a touchdown.

Bearcats' QB Chad Cook took the 2nd half snaps. After some early struggles and a few transition fumbles, Cook completed several passes and connected with rookie WR Rob Montalvo for a 4th quarter TD. Montalvo eclipsed the century mark in receiving yards according to our stat guy.

Rookie WR Mike Cayce made several receptions over the middle of the field and had some very nice runs after the catch.

The make-shift offensive line consisted of 2 regular starters and a rotation of defensive linemen/linebackers. This left our defense thin in the front 7 and we gave up much more than we should have Still a very nice performance by the D, and a great learning experience for the newer guys and some people who had to play new positions.

The 3:30 St. Louis kickoff was really enjoyable. Rarely can one lose 10 lbs. in a game.

We're off for the holiday weekend. Be back in Eville on the 10th.

Also heard this....

Fire 17
Tornados 10

Something about 250 penalty yards on Indy to 5 on the Fire? Not sure I saw that right, but very interesting.

Indiana Mustangs 13
Lake County Steelers 10

Bad Snap on a punt to where the Steeler Punter attempted to throw the ball away only for a Mustang player to pick it off and run it a short distance to the End Zone
