The Indy Tornados Leave the NAFL to join the GDFL for 2011
The Indianapolis Tornados have officially announced that they have departed from the NAFL (North American Football League). The Tornados have been a member since 2002, and won the 2008 NAFL National Championship. In 2011, the Tornados will compete in the GDFL (Gridiron Developmental Football League). The GDFL is one of the fast growing Minor League’s in the country.
"We’ve had a tremendous experience in the NAFL, states Team President Evan Triggs. ”It is our job to continue to grow this organization, no matter which league we are in. We owe it to our fans and supporters to return to being an elite team in the country."
The 2010 NAFL season was extremely turbulent for the Tornados. Several or their games were cancelled and the regular season ended with a four (4) week stretch of cancellations / forfeits. The Tornados ended the season with a loss at Traverse City, 17-7 in the playoffs.
