Tornados 2011 Schedule has been released

Tornados 2011 Schedule has been released

The GDFL (Gridiron Developmental Football League) has officially released the Tornados 2011 schedule. The Tornados are in the Hoosier Division and share a spot with two other Indy teams. The 2011 schedule shows promise. The travel, this year is an all-time low, so the morale is up at an all-time high.

The Tornados start off 2011 with three (3) preseason games. On May 14th the Tornados will host the Columbus (OH) Gladiators in an exhibition game. This matchup will be featured at the Tornados 3rd Annual Champions of Change Community Event. On May 21st the Tornados will host the Wayne Co. Cyclones (Missouri), a premiere Minor League Football team who are former league champions in the GMFL (Great Midwest Football League). The Tornados will finish the preseason in Memphis, TN on May 28th at the “Best of the Best” GDFL kickoff. The “Best of the Best “ is an event that brings together some of the best Minor League teams in the GDFL in a six(6) team, three (3) game, weekend. The Tornados are matched up against the Henry Co. Horsemen (Macon, GA), a perennial powerhouse in the south. The Tornados will take on back to back former league champions in the preseason. This type of competition early in the season should have the Tornados “oiled up” and ready for the regular season.

During the 2011 regular season, the Tornados will battle for the Hoosier Division against the familiar foes and potential “in city” rivals. The Tornados will face the Chicago Wolverines for the third consecutive season. Recently, the Wolverines have given the Tornados all that they can handle, so it should be interesting to see how the Wolverines have improved in 2011. The Tornados will have to defend Indianapolis against two (2) local upstarts, the Indianapolis Saints and the Naptown Scorpions. The Chicago based, Windy City Sharks, should be competitive in their inaugural season. The East Central Missouri Eagles, will have the furthest to travel in the division, but this classy and well season team will bring the fight to whomever, wherever.

The Tornados look to bounce back from a disappointing 2010 season that ended in a playoff loss after a turbulent season of cancellations.

“The GDFL give us to best opportunity to cut down our travel and still play good competition. Every year our goal is to be National Champions; the GDFL gives us this opportunity. So, we look forward to continuing our quest in 2011 and beyond”. Exclaims Tornados President, Evan Triggs.
