Tornados Open the season with early Kickoff, 2:30pm at Park Tudor
The Indianapolis Tornados are set to kick off their home schedule this Saturday against their cross-town rival, the Indianapolis Saints. The game will begin at 2:30 pm at Park Tudor. The Tornados completed their pre-season with a 3-0 record and impressively held their collective opponents to 6 points while scoring 82.
The Indianapolis Tornados represented the city as the North American Football League (NAFL) national champions in 2008 but recently switched to the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL). General Manager, David Seiter, explained the move, “We believe the GDFL will provide the Tornados with a higher level of competition. Our players want to prove once again that they are the best in the nation, but you can only do that by playing at the highest level of competition.”
The first test for the Tornados will be the Indianapolis Saints, another newcomer to the GDFL. The Gates open at 1:00 pm and national recording artist, Lynda Sayyah, will perform a pre-game concert for fans that arrive early. At half-time, the Tornados will host their 3rd annual “Media Punt, Pass, Kick competition” in which local media celebrities compete for charities. Tickets costs $10 for adults, $8 for youth (8-17) and children 7 and under are free. “We strive to offer affordable family entertainment” added Seiter. “This opening game offers something for everyone!”
Tornados will be back at home on June 18th against the East Central Missouri Eagles. Kickoff will be at 2:30pm. Bring the family out and enjoy the lawn seating at Park Tudor Stadium.
