No Shows and quiting

As we get ready to observe Labor Day 2011 I want to first wish everyone a very safe and fun holiday.
I have been on this board now for several years and something I've seen this seaon is troubling to me. I don't think I have ever seen a seaon where there has been so many no shows and teams walking off the field before the game is over. I think that to be a no show or to quit is not only disrespecful to your team and fans and also your organization and league but also to the game of football.
This is something that leagues need to address, fans come to see a game not a bunch of cry babies that leave the field of play before the game is over.
I think it is time for leagues to start handing out the death penalty to any team that pulls a no show or quits playing a game.
What do I mean by death penalty, simple you do it and that team and players are suspended for a period of one year. They are suspended from joining any other team or any other league.
This may be called semi-pro football but it doesn't mean it has to be operated as semi-pro.
Of course there will be times when a team doesn't show because a bus breaks down or some other legitmate reason,
but to just plain not show up or finish a game is wrong.
I hope that people don't take this wrong but it is what it is and this is how I feel.
RESPECT THE GAME,
RESPECT YOUR FANS,
REPRESENT YOUR LEAGUES AND ORGANIZATIONS WITH PRIDE,
I love this game.

Re: No Shows and quiting

I agree. The number of no-shows and walk-offs is horrible. There has to be a cost for it. The leagues know what teams are having trouble and they need to let the opponents know too.

When have you ever heard a team say; " we just don't have the money for the field, refs, or the road trip"? NEVER, they will just make up some lame excuse... the busy broke down, they won't let us use the field,it's got to stop.

The Indiana Generals have a game next week that will most likely not happen due to their opponent using some lame excuse. The Generals will take the "w" but really this stuff needs to be stopped. I don't mean to slander or slam anyone, I've just seen it before. If I'm wrong I apologize

Re: No Shows and quiting

Crap we used the "Our bus broke down" excuse.

Re: No Shows and quiting

Our bus actually did break down though. Nothing you can do about that.

Re: No Shows and quiting

The problem is that so many teams used that excuse, when it really does happen it still sounds like a crap excuse.

Re: No Shows and quiting

I was trying to be humorous about our break down. I think when a team is 9-0 (IFL) and can't make a game because of an unfortunate event like that, its a heck of a lot more believable. ;)

Re: No Shows and quiting

Yeah guys that is a real bummer and yes I know your bus did break and it wasn't your fault and I hope you didn't think I was talking about you and your team because you guys are doing it right.
Each league has a team that when they show up on your schedule you wonder silently " will they show up" or "will they finish the game" those are the ones that are the absolute worse and frankly nothing is ever done to them.
I mean come on now home teams always try to put on a nice event for their fans and when someone does a no show it is our fans who suffer.
