Free Youth Football Skills Camp and Exhibition Game

INDIANAPOLIS- The Indianapolis Tornados minor league football team are having their 4th annual Champions of Change Community Event on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at TC Howe Academy Stadium. This event is in partnership with CAW (Coach Alonzo Watford) Inner City football league.

The event begins at 10 a.m. with the free youth football camp at Douglas Park (1425 E 25th St, Indianapolis, IN 46218). The camp’s instruction will come from Tornados players and the youth coaches of the CAW Inner City football league, and it is intended to help kids of ages 6-10 better understand football fundamentals. The event will feature a flag football scrimmage with Tornados players participating on each team. That event lasts until 12 p.m. At 5:30 the games open at TC Howe Academy Stadium, the community festival begins which features information booths from local businesses, food, drinks, games, giveaway prizes, and an inflatable obstacle course. The community festival will prelude the exhibition game at the stadium. The day ends with the Tornados facing off in preseason action against the Columbus Fire. Kickoff starts at 7 p.m.

The Tornados have adopted the Champions of Change Day in order to display a commitment to the Indianapolis community and all of its partnering businesses. Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hoosier Healthwise, Indianapolis Public Schools, Red Cross, IFD, Shepherd Center, KidsBMV, Marion County Health Department, Boys and Girls Club, and Girl Scouts are just a few of the organizations that will be participating on May 12th.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Tornados won the North American Football League championship in 2008, the largest minor league football organization in the country.
