Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Sorry Dragons. Don't mean to step on your toes. Thought that if the poll was out here it might draw a little more attention. I would love to play in another full pad tourney.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

not stepin on any toes BRING ON DA PADS!!!!!!!!
FROM THE DRAGONS.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Its cool. I thought of doing this after the fact. Good job Gladiator.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

no thanks on the pads

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Dragons,

I would like to see you guys be able to pull this off for the fun of the game, and to make some loot for your team.

Why not just click on the links at the top of the page and send your tournament info to each team (individually) in an email?

Just a thought.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

i appreciate your support. i hope more teams feel the same. we are going to do a tournament. if the arena will allow pads, that is what its going to be.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

How soon do you think you will know?

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

If there is going to be pads I think some of the Horns will be interested in playing. Get back on here with some more info on how we can get signed up

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

weve made the necessary contacts, we are just waiting for the costs associated with the field and insurance. this info should be here in the next day or so. The tourney should be March 17-18. Again, it will be DOUBLE elimination. 8 on 8. A chance for teams to revenge on others from the last. The cost info will be next. It will be FULL PAD/CONTACT.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

So you went from 7 on 7 flag to full contact 8 on 8? Also the price has gone from 275.00 to ???? If you decide to play flg let me know if you plan on playing tackle before the season starts on carpet then good luck to all lol.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Greg V, why so much anger at playing tackle. You have left like 4 or 5 posts about "oh its tackle now, and not flag" i think a majority want to play tackle, no matter if its before the season, after the season, heck during the season. Thats football. I play in a couple flag leagues as well, and its fun but not the real thing. most of us would jump at the chance to play tackle football, anytime, anywhere....i mean thats what we do!!!!!

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Not anger. Was just trying to get an answer either way. I will not take a higher risk chance at hurting myself before the season. You guys might think thats selfish but I feel it is looking out for my team. If you guys decide to play flag let me know. I apoligize if you think this is anger but don't like waiting till the last minute to put something together. Like being organized.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

I understand your frustration. This whole thing started out as a suggestion to get peoples input in what the football community would like to do as a whole.
We just want to have some fun. We as a group feel it is more fun to play contact. We had to get it ok's with the facility and we are waiting to hear back from them so we can set our price for the event. You can plan on the $275-300 range. That will be a little less than $30/person with a 12 man roster. Break it down more and its only 15 a game max.
We are highly organized actually. We can only do so much while the other wheels turn. Good day gentelmen.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

I am not trying to cause any problems but if you are worried about getting hurt before the season then why even do flag football. I know some guys who have had there Mouth wired shut because they got thier jaws broke during a flag football game. I would rather have a face mask on and keep my teeth. And if you are going to be running in either contact or flag then you also have the possability of pulling a hammy breaking an ankle and god knows how every athlete loves a sprain.

And on a hard turf i would prefer to have pads on to help prevent an injury so i can go to work on Monday.

So if you are really that worried then i wouldn't even do flag and just wait till the season starts.

As for the dragons come one man throw me a bone need the info.

Just kidding

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

I think the limit was 18 guys in Angola errr... I mean Auburn. Could we go with that? 12 men in full contact could pose some problems.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

atta guy gladiator!! way to remember

my input on the roster size, i would go with 18 rather than 12 cause there were a lot of injured players in that tourney. And at an 18 roster size, it still made it complicated for most teams who did suffer injuries. plus you have special teams and yada yada. For the teams who may do it again, mad props to ya! two of those in an off season is a handful, but well productive. Have fun and be safe kids. Grambel...you ball'n it up again?

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

we are cool with 18. that makes it cheaper for the players as well. good points about the contact and flag football. i pulled a quad in flag once a few years back and was out for a couple months.
again, we are waiting for the place to come back with the numbers so we can relay it. we are going to have it, even if its outdoors in march. that would be fun. could be real nice or snowing. any team that wants to play can email us. indydragons@hotmail.com
this is our first time hosting a tourney like this so things are a bit rough, bear with it, its gonna kick a$!.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

I think we need to have a regular 11 on 11 outdoors full contact football tournament. double or single elimination, depending on time managment.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

that would be fun, but what about the weather. something like that should happen in april or may.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Well, now that we are talking Full Contact...
I would love to get a team together...
This fat old man, cant hang with the Flag Football...
I need to head butt and hold, to compete with you young bucks.

How about you Hemi...you plan on playing...

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

If you have it outdoors you could get 2 fields going so that no one has to play at 3am.

I can speak for the Chargers and I know we would be interested in fielding a team.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

The Chargers are gay, like Earl!

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

hahahaha...I haven't heard a good gay-Earl joke in a while! Actually that one wasn't even good. You can do better than that.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Gambrel, If the team i'm playing for decides to enter....then I shall be there. I have to have surgery tho sometime coming up....so i'm not sure. two surgerys in two seasons, aint that some crap!? and i'm only 23? If we dont play then I shall wait to hear how you boys performed. Peace Love- Ligtown

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

this is looking better. lots of interest now. thats good. we want to hold it indoors because of the weather, but an outdoor 8 on 8 100 yd, thats like backyard, but better. not a bad idea. we are still waiting for the facility to get with us on the price.
let me put this out there, how many of your teams would play an outdoor tourney in mid-march? the last few years, its been really warm at that time.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Just thought that I would drop in my two cents,
First, Pads are awsome, but don't use my format, it had several flaws that may not have been evident, but the biggest was we didn't make a dime to raise money. Every penny in was spent in getting it running.
Second, Hire officials. I watched enough of our tournament to know that it was the best money spent. In this however, it took a volunteer of mine that is an official three months to get these guys around, and even in that we still had two crews that I would like to have replaced after the first kickoff. Oh well Lesson learned.
Third, don't go straight through. 16 teams double elimination with the clock set up that we had took 34 hours of playing time. We had two forfiets and some time to rest, but ask the Warriors, or the Broncos, or the Warriors about playing all night. That will be rectified in next years outing.
Finally, I suggust that as the tournament sponsor you DO NOT PLAY YOUR TEAM IN THIS TOURNMENT. If you expect your guys to volunteer and play it will fall apart somewhere. For the KC Mustangs to Play as far as they did as well as help with scoreboard, chains, and other necessary duties in co-sponsoring it took everything out of them. I commend their heart, however they were done.
Otherwise good luck and for those interested, the tournament at our house will be the 29th 30th and 31st of December 2006. I will have a sign up sheet with revised format and a couple of small rule changes up around the first of April. If you are interested you can certainly contact me ahead of time. Next will be much different and much more forgiving.
thanks again

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

Well...I think u can pretty much count the Lima Warriors into both tourneys. We had a bad 1st game...dut to no practice and no game plan...but we got our team together and worked out a plan to make the LONG run to the finals. It was fun now that u look back, but hell at the time. haha I'm ready again for more action and I'm sure my teammates will be also.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

I think that these little touneys are good for the semi-pro world, it allows the teams that would not normaly get to play each other to meet and play.
mad props to the CRUSH & DRAGONS keep up the good work, by the way what league are these two teams in ?

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

its still on, just ironing out details. get your fees ready guys.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

I'm not trying to be pushy but do you think you'll have the details by Friday? Just so i have the info to give to the Horns by Saturday. We plan on having a team together for the the tourney

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

id love to have the details by friday. these people are killing me. you can count on it being that weekend in march, 18-19. looks to be a two day event, double elimination. depending on the field place, who im waiting to call back again.

Re: Dragons poll here. Flag or pads tourney?

sounds good to me but one thing we could split one field up width wise and make it 60 yards instead of 51 yards like the normal width of a football field then we could have 2 games at once right next to each other just a suggestion if we have to play out doors. Although if it was indoors like arena i would love to check someone up against a wall just to see how it feels.
