This recipe is one that is in a local cookbook. It is
a bit different from the other one.
1 pkg. yellow butter cake mix
1 large (5-0z.) pkg. instant chocolate pudding mix
2/3 cup oil
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
4 eggs
1/2 pint sour cream
6 oz. chocolate morsels
Combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil, sugar and water.
Add eggs, one at a time, using electric mixer. Stir
in by hand the sour cream and chocolate morsels. Pour
into well-greased Bundt or tube pan. Bake at 350 for
one hour. Let cool before removing from pan. The
cake is better made a day ahead.
Also, in "The Cake Mix Doctor," there is a version
that uses a devil's food cake mix. A frosting is also
mentioned. If anyone is interested in seeing that one
just say so, and I will post it as well. The second
version in the same book has crushed pineapple as part
of the topping along with frozen unsweetened coconut.
I'll post that one too, if anyone wants it.
Any of these recipes could be made more weight watcher
friendly by using fat free or even reduced fat ingre-
dients, but I am afraid to try. :) It would probably
be an overall bad decision to have something like this
in the house. :)
Nellie. I agree with the not having it in the house for me. I would eat and eat because this is my favorite cake. It all depends on the person. If you can handle one piece then great job. I'm not that strong. when I make it, I use it for a potluck or a birthday and if there is some left over I have my husband bring it too work.
