Re: anyone have any good recipes for a whole chicken?
I love to put a whole chicken in the crockpot with
some sprigs of rosemary and basil over the top and an
onion stuffed inside it. You can also put some fresh
sage on top, if you like. On low for six to eight
hours, and you have a wonderful tender chicken, along
with a most welcoming aroma in the house! Oh, add
about 1/2 cup to one cup of water before you start to
cook it. The broth will be wonderful to refrigerate
and skim off any fat. Sometimes I also add some celery
and carrots, just in big chunks. That also gives a
good flavor to the broth.

I fix mine in the crockpot too. I ball up 4 pieces of foil and perch the chicken on them and then sprinkle it inside and outside with seasoning salt and cook it on low all day long. My supper, it is so moist and tender that it falls off the bones.
