re: Help needed from Liverpool

Hello all
I am desperatly trying to trace the family history of my grandfather.
He was put into Cartref Ophanage at Bont Newydd at a young age (approx 4yrs old) but was born at 8 skinner street to parents Lizzie & Richard Roberts. (Along with his brother Thomas & Sister Margaret)

Lizzie had been married before and was previously a pritchard, we believe she had 3 sons in this marriage (edward, Richard & ? )

I have searched every single thing i can find and i cannot find the marriage of Lizzie and richard nor can i find the death of Lizzie (the reason my grandfather was put into care, we are told)
Can anyone help ??
My grandfather is now 87 and i would love him to have this information before it is too late.

Kind Regards
Natalie

re: Help needed from Liverpool

Just in case it ties in there was a Richard Roberts from 6 Skinner Street who was Pte 1482/265453* in the 6th Battalion (Territorial Force) Royal Welsh Fusiliers in WW1. He had enlisted on 25th August 1914 a few weeks after war broke out. He didn't go to Gallipoli with the 6th Bn but he was certainly in the fighting in Palestine as he is on a casualty list in April 1917.I've come to the conclusion that this list is that of those who fought in the 1st Battle of Gaza on 26th March 1917.
I hasten to add that it may not be the same one as your Richard from No 8 as I don't have the 1911 Census to see who was at No 6 etc. There was also a Richard Roberts from 41 Pool Hill who was Pte 325 in the 6th RWF (a pre war man)and another Richard Roberts from Skinner Street who was in the Royal Garrison Artillery but I haven't much more on him as yet. Yet another Richard Roberts, this one from 3 Bank Quay, was killed with the 6th Bn in November 1916 (3rd Battle of Gaza)

* The Territorials were renumbered in early 1917. He has the two numbers on his medal card which he denotes he went overseas before the renumbering (but after 31/12/1915 as he hasn't got the 1914-15 star)

Correction

3rd Gaza was 1917 not 1916
