Re: The Red Dragon Saga

Dear Bronwen,

I am sorry to have to disappoint you with regard to the 20 or so students that took part in the Red Dragon Saga. I got my information from the book written by J.E. Jones and the only name that he gives is that of the leader of the group viz. R. E. Jones, who became a teacher and ended up as Headmaster of Llanberis School. He was also a Plaid Cymru candidate in a post WW11 election, I think this would have been in the late 1950's.

One intersting item that he wrote is about a policeman who, somehow or other, had a piece of the Union flag framed and was a lifelong supporter of P.C.

You may like to contact Mrs. Angharad Rhys Williams, daughter of the late J.E. Jones, from whom I borrowed the book. Her address is Melin y Wig, Llys Gwyn, Caernarfon, Tel No. 01286 674865. She is also online, but I do not have her email address.

Regards,

Meirion

Re: The Red Dragon Saga

Meirion , I am a bit disappointed! I just have this memory of Grandad reading a book from the library, I'm fairly sure now that I think about it that it was in welsh, he showed me his name in the text, and told me a bit of the story. Mum told me about it again after he died, as I inherited his piece of the flag. I have always hoped to find that book - but I am sad to say, I don't speak or read welsh (result of being brought up over the border!). But thank you for your other helpful information, I have already contacted University of Bangor and am waiting eagerly for a reply. I will write to Mrs Williams as well, you never know, and 'if you don't ask you don't get' I have found. It's a great story - I'm so glad my grandad was there (in whatever role). Bronwen
