John Bryan sailmaker

My g grandfather was a sailmaker called John Bryan. According to the document of partnership with William Hughes(which I have) their sail room/loft was on Bank Quay. Do you know of any photos or a large scale map of Caernarfon in about 1881 so I could try and find out where it was?

Thanks diolch

Re: John Bryan sailmaker

Hi Sian,

According to some of the trade directories, the works was at 26 Bank Quay. The building was demolished many years ago, but was located on the corner of Bank Quay and Turkey Shore, opposite where Glan y Mor flats now stand, and next door to the present corner property, Glandwr, which used to be Peter Watson's dental surgery.

I can't recall seeing any photos of the site, but have a word with Gwynedd Archives Service, as they might have something in their collection.

Regards,

Keith.
