EC/EM/H200 STOP IN PRODUCTION NOTICE

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Date: March 1, 2007

Hitachi has announced a "Stop in Production" for the EC-Series, The EM/EMII-Series, and the H200/250/252-Series.

REASON: The components used to create these models have been discontinued.

SCHEDULE: The production will stop in March of 2008. After that time, orders will be filled as long as stock is available. It may be possible to get units repaired after that time, dependent upon availability of parts.

REPLACEMENT The Hitachi recommended replacement for the EC is the Micro-EH series. The recommended replacement for the EM, EMII and H200/250/252 is the EH-150.

NOTE: The program running in your EC/EM/EMII will work just fine in the Micro-EH and/or EH-150. There are at least two "translation" programs available, which will adapt your program for use in the newer models. This is necessary, because the "H" type processors in the Micro-EH and EH-150 use the same HI-Protocol as the Hitachi Large-H family. This protocol is fundamentally different than the protocol used in the "E" series processors. You will find that this upgrade will run your current program just fine. In most cases, it will even run faster (faster scan times) and offer you more versatility that what you had previously (greater functionality).

If you currently use the H200/250/252 system, your project will run properly in the EH-150, as long as the I/O addresses match. (The H200 CPUs already use the "H" series processor).

I would be happy to address your concerns, or discuss various upgrade opportunities.
