ActSip communications under Windows

Hi,

I have the following problem :

I have ACTSIP-E and ACTSIP-H the software works fine but when i am working under windows i can not communicate with the PLC so i have te start the computer under MS-DOS to communicate with the PLC
Now I have the problem that my serial port of my portable computer doesn't work anymore. I can create a new serial port throug USB but then i have to start up windows. Is there any way I can communicate with the PLC when windows is running?

Sincerely,

Re: ActSip communications under Windows

Dear Johan,
The Actron distributor in Belgium is : Esco transmissions N.V.
Their phone number is : +32 2 715 65 60

We have created a document to address problems such as the one you describe. Please refer to it for the correct settings (baud rate, etc.). (Click Here)

The majority of ActSip users (E and/or H) are able to use ActSip under Windows. The only reason some do not run in Windows, is in instances such as you describe where communications problems are experienced. In a nutshell, when running a DOS program in DOS, the port settings only have to agree with the PLC requirements. When running in Windows however, the Windows environment controls the port settings, and ‘in most instances’ overrule any settings contained within the DOS program. In the majority of cases, resetting the Windows port parameters (making them agree with the software settings and the PLC settings) will allow the software to operate correctly even when run in a Window.

I hope this helps with the problem you have encountered. If not, please feel free to contact us directly, ESCO, or Actron A.B.
Best Regards,
Timothy Davis
