Re: Hitachi D and E series - HIZAC

Dear Tomasz Antonik,

Thank you for your interest in our company, and Hitachi PLC products.

As you are possibly aware, both the Hitachi “D” series and the “E” series are obsolete. For details, please see our product time-line. The (hand-held) programmer is still available for the “E” series, and we carry them in stock. I will check with Hitachi Japan, but I do not think the “D” series programmer is still available. I will let you know what they say.

We do have manuals for both, and carry the replacement Lithium batteries for the “D”.

There has never been (to the best of my knowledge), software for the “D”. This may be due to the fact that there is not a Serial Port connection for the “D”. Therefore you cannot connect your PC to it. However, on the “E”, the PGM-JR2 (sometimes referred to as the Universal Programmer) has a serial port. You can use the PGM-JR2 as a hand-held programmer, or with the flip of a switch, change its function to that of a Serial Protocol Converter. It has a DB25 connector. You connect the cable from your PC to this port. The programming software is called ActSip. It is still being produced and updated (with new drivers). So, with the PGM-JR2, ActSip programming software, and the cable that comes supplied with the software, you can upload/download/monitor the programs in your “E”. Also, if you should ever decide to upgrade your “E”, the program (with slight modification) will work in the current “EC” or “EMII” replacement. Actually, with a little work, the program you are currently running in your “E” will even work with the new Micro-EH or the EH-150. So you have a lot of upgrade possibilities.

Our repairs are actually done by Hitachi, at Nakajo Works in Japan, where the units were manufactured. The “E” is repairable. The “D” is not listed, but I will ask about it at the same time I ask about the availability of the programmer.

Please let us know how we can best serve your needs.
Best Regards,
Timothy Davis
