Hopefully the information presented here will help provide solutions to some of today's automation challenges. Some issues are probably old, some are probably new. Many are products of the economy, the resultant reduction in manpower, exacerbated by aging equipment crippled by decreases in maintenance budgets.  The ULTIMATE goal here is that we all become more successful in our careers and chosen professions.

Re: Re: Re: ECL-20HRP

X,

If you can establish communications with ActSip, (proving integrity of the PC setup, comm port setup, cable & cable pin-out, and the EC PLC itself), then there is no reason you should not be able to make it work with ActWin. I suggest copying all the communications setup parameters from ActWin, and then making sure that the settings in ActWin agree.
The port and baud rate are found under Tools : Driver settings. NOTE: the EC only communicates at 9600 baud.
Even in DEMO mode, ActWin should allow you to test a project ( <80 rungs). You should be able to even upload/download the project.
Good Luck with your project!

Well, gonna test some more now

Thanks again!

(Btw, is there any software for free with the ec series?)

Your pin-out is correct. For reference, see below.

Your problem may be in the "communications setup" of ActWin. More likely, it is in the position of the switch next to the serial port. The position of this switch is only "read" during power-up. Put the switch in position COM2, and recycle the power. (This does not refer to the com port of your PC - but rather to Mode 2 protocol).

The 4 dip switches are for the "Link" function, and are used to set the Station Number of this unit. The I/O of up to 8 units can be linked (RS485) together via twisted pair (maximum length 500m).

Hope this helps with your project!

Hello all!

I need some help here.

I created a cable for the ECL-20HRP series (pinout I used is from the EC2 series, the plc has the same round 8 pin connector). With the software Actwin-E I tried everything to connect to my plc, but no luck.

Also, on the right hand side of the plc there is another hatch which hides 4 dip switches, for what use are they?

Hope somebody can help me!
