Re: micro-eh

Communications can sometimes be tricky with any PLC, because of number of conditions that must be met. I equate this to a "chain", and as the saying goes, "the weak link breaks the chain". Most of the time when we get requests such as yours, the problem (believe it or not) ends up being the cable. Normally the pin-out is incorrect, or there is a bad solder joint, or a wire has broken mid-span. We can email you the pin-out if you need (it is in the Micro-EH manual).

If your cable is correct, the next place I would suggest looking is normally the communication parameter settings on the PLC. However, with your EH-D10DR there are no switches: the port is factory set at 4800 baud. Next I would look at the settings in the ActWin software. The first thing to check is that you have the correct drivers. When you create a new project within ActWin, you have the choice of Hitachi EH-Micro, EH-Nano, or H-Series. Your 10 I/O unit is the Nano. (The 14, 23, 28, and 64 I/O units are considered Micro.) If you do not see these choices, you have an incorrect version of ActWin (the one for "E" series PLCs).

Once the (3) program windows are open in ActWin, choose the Project Window (usually says ACTWIN1 at the top). Click on "+" sign by "Hardware Configuration". Even though you have chosen "Nano" drivers, the Default PLC will probably be the EH-28. Right-Click on the EH-28 icon and choose "Add Module" selection. Once there, select the EH-10 option.

Now that the configuration is set, you can press "ALT + F12", or go through the "Communications" Menu to transfer the program from the PLC to your PC.

The project in your Micro-EH should appear in the "Program Main" window.

If this procedure fails, it may be because your ActWin is not a licensed version. In DEMO mode, the number of program steps is limited. If you are running a DEMO version, you need to purchase the license which will unlock the software for full functionality.

We hope this helps Hatem!
