Re: Furnas 96KM40AA

Information on Furnas Electric products is getting harder and harder to find since their purchase by Siemens Automation a few years back.

However, the Furnas 96KM40AA PLC was actually a brand labeled Mitsubishi F2-40MR-UL (see Furnas/Mitsu cross reference on our website). The software for the Mitsubishi F1/F2 is still available (just not from Mitsubishi). It is called MEDOC (created by Beijer in Norway).
(Note: the newer Windows® software "GX-Developer" will not work on the F2).

A “converter” is required to connect your laptop up to the F2. This “converter/cable” was called F-Link. (It converted RS422 from the PLC to RS232 for your PC.) The problem is, that the F-Link is obsolete and no longer available.

Therefore, unless you can find (or borrow) a Mitsubishi F-Link (or Shihlin A-Link ), you probably cannot program your 96KM with a laptop. The only other option is to use the hand-held programmer. I do not know what the Furnas designation is/was. But the Mitsubishi part number is F1-20P-E. This also is obsolete. As the actual manufacturer of the Mitsubishi PLC line, Shihlin Electric continued making the programmer, and sold it as “A1-20P-E”. The last time we sold one of these was mid-2003. I will check to see if there are any still available, if you wish.

I hope you find this information helpful. Good luck with your project.

Re: Furnas 96KM40AA

We have been using Shihlin A1-60MR in our elbow forming machine and we have one A1-20P-E hand held device to program the PLC. Currently we need to program one PLC and I am facing the following problem.

In one of the rung the output is an address for timer (450). Unless I set a time for the timer, the program is showing error. Can anyone please help to set the timers (100ms, adresses are 50-57, 450-457, 550-557) and (10ms, adresses are 650-657). Please let me know how I can set the timers using the hand held device (A1-20P-E).

Regards,
