Re: em2 plc

Chris,

Whenever Hitachi makes reference to this series, they always (for some reason) use the Roman Numeral II, not (2). And, as I mentioned, the “standard” color is beige.

That said, they did produce the EMII in black for Reliance Electric. And furthermore, Samsung did brand label the EMII – using the same part numbers. They (Samsung) called the series “HIBRAIN”.

As far as the configuration software, several companies around the world and over the years, have produced software for the Hitachi “E” series (includes the EMII). I believe that Logitek of Spain may have referred to their software as EM2 – I’m not certain.

Here is a thought. If you can look at the very first line of ladder logic, we may be able to confirm this. In ALL cases, the first line of logic for the EMII HAS to be: two contacts followed by FUN98(RUN).

This is the command for the processor to go into RUN mode. If this line is missing, the CPU will NEVER go into RUN mode.

So if your first line looks like the example, you definitely have an EMII. If not, the unit is “mislabeled”, and you have something else indeed.
