Re: ActWin (Hardware Configuration)

David,
In ActWin, there are three main windows. The largest, is the Programming Windows where you write the program. The second (generally found at the bottom of your screen) is the Symbol Window where all your Inputs and Output are found. The third is the Project Window (generally found on the left).

In the Project Window, under “Project ActWin1” is found “Hardware configuration” and “settings”. Click on the”+” sign left of “Hardware Configuration”. Go to the top “empty” position, and click the right button on your mouse. You should see a selection for “ADD Module…”. Select (left click) “Add Module”. If you are using the EC series, select the option which most closely matches your PLC. In the case of the EM, choose out the base (rack) which matches what you actually have.

If you are using the EC series, you are done. If you do have the EM series, you now make a virtual construction of what you actually have. Again, click the “+” sign by the base you selected previously. The number of “” slots should match the total number of slots in your existing rack. “Right Click” the top “” selection. The first open slot is always occupied by a power supply, so select “Add Module” and choose from the three available power supplies.. Next comes the processor and memory. Following that, simply build the I/O, matching what you find in the actual PLC. In each case, you add the appropriate module so that when you are finished, your “Hardware Configuration” matches your existing PLC.

The configuration you just created is saved when you save your project, so that you do not have to recreate it each time you open the file.

I hope this answers your question.
