Where and @ what times will game be. It would be nice if someone could post a tournament bracket along with pool play. I know that usually a high school is nominated to host the tournament. Any idea who it will be this year?
What teams are favored? List teams that are favored along with their seven on seven record and who they have beaten along with the scores.
I heard its at El Dorado HS.
Franklin hasn't lost a 7 on 7 game this year. So I have them
guys, are you serious, 7 on 7 is not real football, if it was Katy would be winning that as well. 7 on 7 is all Franklin has, they act like thats the super bowl. real football is played between the taackles. for at least teams that go far in the playoffs. thats why no el paso school ever goes deep in the play offs because they hang their hat on 7 on 7. just keeping it real......
Unless teams post their individual brackets for next week. The only brackets that we will see is the state 7 on 7 tournament bracket which will consist of only two teams from El Paso. For more information check out their webpage:
There are no favorites here...teams are playing for bragging rights and the awesome Adidas gear that they will receive. That said, fans should support any of the top two teams that make it to College Station. Last year it was Montwood and El Dorado that advanced to the state tournament. Both teams did fairly well with Montwood advancing to the Consolation Bracket and El Dorado advancing to the Gold Bracket before both teams lost. It was also the same year that Montwood won the Notre Dame 7 on 7 tournament.
This year Montwood and El Dorado are both in the same bracket thus ensuring that only one of them will have a chance to advance to the state tournament. So having witnessed the state 7 on 7 tournament before myself, it's an awesome experience for players to observe and compete against players from some of the best football programs in Texas. So good luck to all the EP teams competing in next weeks qualifying tournament.
Here is a little bit of history for EP schools that participated in the Division I and II state 7 on 7 tournament over the years:
Note: Prior to 2007, all teams competed against each other in one division.
El Dorado - 2015
El Paso Bel Air - 2009
El Paso Chapin - 2009, 2010
El Paso Coronado - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
El Paso Del Valle - 2008
El Paso Franklin - 2007, 2010, 2011, 2014
El Paso Hanks - 2006
El Paso Montwood - 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
El Paso Riverside - 2011
Note: Montwood leads the way with Coronado and Franklin both tied for 2nd place as far as appearances are concerned.
Division II: None.
The state 7 on 7 tournament is a big deal in Texas whether some people like it or not. The event is very competitive with most of the top teams in Texas competing including Allen, Katy, Cedar Hill, Euless Trinity, Manvel, Westlake and many others. The 2015 tournament was won by Austin Westlake who were 8-0 in tournament play. Westlake went on to compete in the 6A State Championship losing in overtime to Galena Park North Shore 21-14. El Paso players can benefit from the exposure as well as the level of competition that the tournament brings. Go RAMS!!!
You clowns 7 on 7 is played all summer long by top prospects all over the country, it gives the skilled guys great exposure and keeps them active, just look at all the tournaments going on all over the US, and I like how you are considering El Paso a "major city" we have the smallest 6A high schools in Texas!
This is the only information I have so far got tweeted this morning ..... if I find anything else I'll posted.

Lol thanks for the update but just heard the have to get by CANUTILLO first!!!!
Canutillo underclassmen kickingass and taking names? Lol That explains why dads from other teams are not on here talking smack. Lol
So where are the experts now? Those who said this QB and that QB performed exceptional well at the UTEP camp? But here in 7on7 State Qualifier those QB's couldn't seal the deal. Don't ever gauge an athlete or athletes via a camp especially a Utep camp.
Who won Pool A?
....cmon man,,,,,7 on 7 is two hand touch football......UTEP camp was actually pretty good....
i don't know about experts....but..there are 4 guys missing on the field and there are no pads...
lets keep this in perspective.......
Eastwood and Eastlake qualify.. We beat Eldo 41-14 to clinch the spot. Keep sleeping on the Troop! First step on having a memorable year this year!!! Go Troop!!
Both semi final games ended early (with about 10 minutes left in the second half) due to lightning. Eastlake and Eastwood both won their games by a large margin. Not sure the exact score of the Eastlake Canutillo game but the Falcons were up by at least 4 touchdowns. And Eastwood dominated El Dorado with a score of 42-14. Congrats to both teams. Make El Paso proud.
Both El Dorado and canutillo ran into a buzz saw ... Eastlake and Eastwood advance ... Due to lightning a coin was flip to determine 1st and Second seed !!!! Eastlake won the toss ... They will be the 1 seed Eastwood will be the 2 seed !!!
Some people just can't give credit where credit is due. Eastwood came out and played. Now if it's with pads or not it's still a level of competition. No matter who won support El Paso programs. The talent is getting better and there are teams that can actually compete with out of town teams it was proven last year. I mean who knows who wins district nobody knows that outcome so why even put in your two cents. This is what's going on now so either support your local teams reguardless what school it is or just stay out of it if you feel it's a joke. It's an a imploding take that away from these kids.
Accomplishment not imploding ....**** autocorrect lol

Both Eastwood and Eastlake played on a whole other level tonight, I mean superior QB play and superior athletes. It would have been extremely fun to actually watch a final game between the two rather than a coin flip. Now it's easy to say that it's just 7 on 7 and it means nothing, I disagree, it means these offenses are putting in the time to develop a bond and timing and it should pay off big in the fall. Noted also is the fact that both these teams have done it with pads on also, for Eastlakes' Tarango-Lopez this will be his third year of action and his experience is apparent and is supported by fantastic athletes, he showed today why many consider him the best QB in this city. For baseball star Ochoa he showed he is more than capable of filling the big shoes Torrez left behind to fill, he exhibited amazing arm strength and Lazer accuracy, he also has incredible weapons at his disposal. Regardless of how these teams do at state for 7 on 7 I am excited to see what they achieve in the fall. Best of luck to these athletes.
Wasnt eldo a favorite what happened.
..superior in all areas......i doubt it.....congrats on the victories....but not one single NCAA coach evaluates talent from 7 on 7....any 5ft4in quick lil "buzzsaw" can juke a 6ft1 LB without pads....come across the middle in tackle football...lil mighty mouse gets KOd....easy on the title talk......good luck in the state tourney......
^^^^^this actually isn't true. If you have the physical stature needed to be a d1 kid college coaches will watch movement route runni g covering ability throwing etc........
At yesterday's 7 on 7 tournament game between Montwood and El Dorado it was a battle between offenses. But somebody had to win and it was El Dorado by 1 point 41-40.
Montwood's WR/Safety Tyreese Andrus took away the deep threat by covering Tyquez Hampton but it wasn't enough because ELD QB Cedarious Barfield was able to find other targets.
The fact that both offenses scored 40+ points doesn't say much about each team's defensive coverages.
And contrary to what someone said about 7 on 7 not being a big deal they are wrong. When you have the best QBs and WRs competing at this one event college coaches will be watching.
So good luck to both Eastwood and Eastlake on their wins. Enjoy the trip, have fun, and represent!
Well looks like Montwood is trying to qualify for state they're competing in the Rio Grande Valley qualifiers down in Mission, TX would've been to go see them play but I'm out of town in Florida.
Great game and practice round between Eastlake and Eastwood today .... Both teams showed they have great and talented players on their teams !!! Good Luck to both teams at state !!!!
Wow that sounds like quite a hard fought competition between those two valiant schools? What was the score? And who won? If you're not first you're last.
Eastlake won the game 38-25 ..... They played an additional 20 minutes after the game ended and eastlake was winning 18-0. I left on Eastwood's last drive so if they scored on their last drive It ended up 18-6 ...not sure if they did or didn't ...
Typical El Pasoans strike once again.
Noone post anything about a Eastlake and Eastwood 7on7 game, practice or whatever as to keep it secret all hush hush but then after the 7on7 game ends it's all of a sudden no longer kept secret hush hush as coaches and parents feel the need to post scores.
My point is why take the time to post a end score but did not take the time to post way earlier that the two El Paso teams going to college station were going to meet up to compete against each other? Why? Why the secret hush hush but then your team happens to do well and wins and no longer is kept secret hush hush with the urgency to post the end score?
I'm not calling out Eastlake because if Eastwood would have done well and won they would be doing the same by posting their win over Eastlake on here and all over facebook.
Typical El Paso mentality by staying quite all hush hush but when things go in your favor with success all of a sudden you want everyone to know and you break your hush hush quickly.
Look I would have liked to have made known that these two teams who are the two El Paso teams going to college station to compete in the State 7on7 Tournament so that I would have gone to watch them compete against each other.
Eastwood didn't have their QB Seth Ochoa and 3 other starters couldn't make it. Would've been great to see these teams in the championship two weeks ago. Still great work from both sides! Both will represent EP well at state!
Hahahah. Don't feel left out eastsider...I always post things when I know about them ahead of time... I myself didn't even know they were playing until 20 minutes before the game ...so I almost missed it myself !!! So there was no conspiracy theory behind it on my part !!! posting the scores And the fact that they played after the fact ...Was the only thing I could update the board with ....Just saying !!!
Good luck to the Rams players participating in the Rio Grande 7 on 7 qualifier tomorrow in Mission, Texas.
