El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Any updates on pool play? Who is moving on to the semi finals? Any particular players that stand out?

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Semi-finals
Franklin vs Pebble hills
Montwood vs Parkland

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Any score updates?

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Parkland and Franklin advance. Who is #7 on Franklin? Kid was abusing everyone! Parkland had hell of a comeback against Montwoood

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

The kid Karch from DV impressed me more than the Lyles kid from DV.
Karch, Lyles, and 7 from Franklin all were making ridiculous catches

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Lyles from Parkland *

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Lyle's haters already starting. Lmao. Him and the Franklin kid stood out. I'm sure this only helped his college recruitment. Good luck to all players this year but yeah parkland and Franklin are going to put up some points.

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

First of all no one is hating on Lyles and it was number 9 for Franklin but they lost to DV and you know why cuZ Gardiner was playing both sides for DV and was killing everyone.. not one person stopped him and Lyles is working with Karch on routes/speed every Saturday at the SAC go look unless they are at some camp. What y’all need to do is give that boy from DV his due like the guy did a couple of post ago! Must admit after franklin played DV number 9 did look nice but AFTER they played DV and lost!

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

After watching several games one thing is for sure montwood will be lucky to make the playoffs. They will struggle receivers look very sloppy with thier routes and defensively they can’t cover at all a lot un coached players . It’s going to be a year of humble pie for the rams. Franklin is surprisingly better then expected and should be the team to beat. Parkland will be tough running and passing could be the team on 5 A.

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

So by all you watching 7on7 competition you all know how the real season with pads on and defenses coming at you will unfold? You all real geniuses. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

All of us didn't say that. Just highlighted a few kids. And yes #9 was decent as well for Franklin small frame kid but catches well. Wasn't confused with #7 though that kid was in the slot and built up. Franklin may be a sleeper this year.

Gardiner
Lyles
McClain-Green
Mckeever

All stood out.

Not saying they will be the best the season but looked dominate in this event.

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Parkland will dominate 5A, as of now I still have Pebble Hills winning 6A with the running back they have.

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

Hey Rico
So the rams defensive problems will continue based on what you saw?

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

This was my prediction before Spring and still holds!!

This district has the most heavyweights and will provide the most fireworks week in and week out. All these contenders have good programs that are trying to continue that winning tradition along with some best talent and coaching in El Paso. I can really see several of these teams making some noise come playoff time. When it is all said and done, this district will provide the most entertainment along with the most Division l players (Del Valle and Chapin).

ThE KiNg's prediction for the 2018 season

#1 Del Valle- Has really established themselves as the front runner to defend their crown in 2018. They return several key pieces on offense and defense, to include 1-5a co mvp’s Montez and Gardiner. QB Montez should be able to put up big numbers as he will have top receivers Gardiner, Cortez and Rendon. On the rushing attack there will be dual threat QB Montez along with Galindo that will contribute.Defense will be led by linebacker Perez and ball hawk Gardiner, as well as Oropeza. They have the edge and fire power returning to make a deep playoff run. They should have a number of JV and freshmen players that could potentially make a big impact as both those units were successful in their respective seasons.

#2 Chapin -This Program has been known to reload year in and year out since the “Walker Era”, they do return several key pieces to build around; Utility player Mckeever, Running backs Silva and Cambra will complement that offense. On defense they return several key players to include linebackers Saenz and Rodriguez both young but experienced, DB Williams, DL McKnight, and (DI prospect) DT Levea. No doubt that this defense brings perhaps the most experience back from all the teams and will be a mainstay in a district with several explosive offenses.

#3 Eastwood- Coach Lopez and Company get a much needed break from 6a, but will see that this new 5a is no cake walk. Castenada will be at the helm and will have running back Rios and reciever Cruz to lead that offense. On defense they will rely on linebackers Murillo and Perez. It shall be seen in the spring who will help make up the rest of the puzzle to that high octane offense they have been known for.

#4 Eastlake-They will look to build around a young nucleus. They will look at QB Kirtley and RB Donacio to lead the way. WR Donacio should emerge as threat as well. Pinero will anchor a young defense. If they can grow up quick they will be fine. Another team that usually reloads so look for some big names to emerge come Spring.

#4 El Dorado- They will not only fall from 6a, but will struggle to make the playoffs. For the first time in this coaching staffs tenure they will not have "Mr. Do it all" Cedarious. We will really get a look at what type of coaches they really have at El Dorado. This program failed to develop young players at each level and now their true colors will show. They will rely on running back Davis, but will need to find a QB to throw to Gianni and Milian as quickly as possible. The defense will build around linebacker Gonzalez.

#6 Bel Air- They really have stepped up their game recently. The are just very unfortunate on the luck of the draw this time around with this new district coming together. This will definitely be a rebuilding year for Bel Air.

Overall MVP- Montez and Gardiner-Del Valle
Offensive- McKeever- Chapin
Co Defensive-McKnight/Lavea/Williams-Chapin and Perez-Del Valle

Raymond Montez already has one D1 offer will he get more D1 attention like his brother Steven Montez? What type of stats will Raymond put up with those explosive receivers? How deep of a playoff run can they make?

What defense will be able to shutdown these high octane offenses? Chapin or Del Valle look to take on this task.

How many teams can make it past the second round?

Hopefully this district produces more division 1 players along with memorable games.

I agree with everything but one item. I think Gardiner will be MVP on both sides of the ball. He's a great db even better than a wide out, and he's pretty good there.

Re: El Paso 7 on 7 State Qualifier

DV has some great skill position players. But, they must replace quite a few O lineman. Let's not hand them the throne just yet. Without a competent line, all hell could break loose.

And injuries can occur as well.

So the rams defensive problems will continue based on what you saw?
What are you taking about. Montwoods D will be returning 9 starters. Solid Defense. The Clock beat them on the 7on7, not Parkland. And Parklands knows that. And who is Rico ?
