Heard, through the grapevine, that there was a good amount of candidates. A good amount of out of town coaches, too. And supposedly two candidates from the central/downtown area. Don't know who they were. Wonder if they were named finalists. Again, don't know how accurate it is since it's through word of mouth.
Am no coach am a certified pipe layer lol just want the best for the community and it’s only my opinion but where they get he better win cause the lack of numbers is not an issue and if it’s gonna be the same song and dance don’t be surprised if I start a thread “I told you so”
Ok tell us who is the best guy for the job what does ephs need genius lol
That's easy! It needs someone that graduated from there. And if there isn't anyone then find someone from that area; someone who can connect with the kids and the community. For example, look at Pichardo at Austin. He's a Bowie guy but knows the kids in that area and it's working.
There has to be a coordinator or assistant coach somewhere that fits that criteria.
That’s what am saying also find some one who knows the kids and community if you look am sure you can find someone like that pachardo is a good leader and has a good staff round him
But I wouldn't make it an in staff hire. No disrespect to those coaches, but the school should want to wash it's hands from the former staff. Or at least let the new head coach decide who he would want to keep.
I agree with that 100% they need a new voice but with ties to the school that’s all am saying
I dont get why they need ties in the community to coach football.
People that know the kids and will be a good role model for the kids and can deal with the community so they can take part of the process
All the programs you named have a ton of winning tradition come on you can’t see that. Or they are in a heavily populated area come on someone has too get the kids out change the culture to where everyone is involved
Not saying someone on staff am saying some one that has ties too the school or is from the community
The La High job is not posted on EPISD anymore. Who can confirm of a decision was made or job will be reopened?
Know for a fact they haven't done the second round of interviews yet. Might be they're going to report the job
Heard job is gonna be opening soon
Looks like you heard wrong. Maybe with the shutdown this job won’t be filled for a while.
Job will reopen for applications again. But with the COVID-19 shut down. Who knows when they're going to fill the job.
I am an ex Tiger. I have news all this is a moot point. My wife works with the UIL Board of Directors and the word is Football around the State will be cancelled due to the pandemic. They are going to wait until Independence weekend to announce it because they don't want a riot. Only chance we have is if Mr. LoofLirpa the head of the W.H.O. knows we want it to continue. But what does someone all the way in Stockholm care about Texas HS Football?
This whole coaching search was a joke I heard they went ahead and had second round interviews but anyways if they cancel football season then they r going to cancel all sports and that would be sad just saying sad for the kids
No matter the status of next season start time I am surprised no one has been named for the job yet.
Word is out Aguilar got it just waiting for all this corona to b over
Well it's not what you know but who you know...process was extremely shady. Mr. Paz got his boy, two guys that have connected Fathers. Guess it helps just a little. Good luck coach Aguilar.
Why cant it just be that he was the best candidate for the job.
Pretty stupid to wait if they have a choice. Much staffing and planning time going to waste.
Ray Aguilar is the man. Posted tweet 4 hours ago saying bye bye to SE.
I guess JR can thank daddy for this job. Completely unacceptable. My son will definitely be transferring. Sad.
Your son ain't transferring out shut up. How can his daddy have helped him with this job. Who should have gotten it
Coach Aguilar did a great job out in San Eli the last few seasons. He changed the culture of the program and got everybody on the same page as far as athletics went. You could tell there was a different energy around the program. It may not have always shown up in the win / loss column, but in a community like that you're always going to have ups and downs as far as talent goes.
El Paso high made a good hire here. If anyone out there knows who were the finalists for the job then we could have a debate. However, I feel like this a good hire for the oldest High School in El Paso. Coach Aguilar will bring his own energy and enthusiasm to the school and the program. It will take some time to make El Paso a perennial contender in that tough district, however, I feel that you will be able to notice things slowly start to change around the football program and all other athletic programs at the school as well.
Lmao come on his dad just gave his son the job it was all bs but what do you expect from this district. Your telling me he was in such a hurry to leave San Eli he was a finalist at EPHS and Chapin. Episd has good OC and DC that work hard and never get a chance because of bs like this I’ll say this he is not gonna beat Austin he will have a tough time getting out of the lower shelf of that district Jeff is better so is Irvin and Austin is tough so who is he gonna beat Burges or Andress or will he beat Bowie he will struggle remember coach wells and Denenger how about Hernandez How did that go???
Yo "Pantha", did you pass grammar in English Class?
