You all need to stop with all the wins and losses argument. We need to start judging these coaches based on weather or not the job is better after they showed up. Does the team look organized, disciplined, are the coaches doing their job preparing the kids for the game, or does it all just look like complete crap? I\'m sorry but Bill Belichick will not go undefeated at San Eli or Jefferson. San Eli may have only won 3 games this year, but how did the team look? Were they competitive? Did the coaches put the players in position to be successful and it just didn\'t happen? That what needs to be looked at when you are looking for a Head Coach. Or you can look for coaches that come from schools that have the best players that always win thinking that somehow your school magically will start to win. I hope EP High finds a good one who truly cares about the kids and the community. If you do that everything else will fall into place, but make sure you give the coach a legitimate chance to be successful.
This is the best thing that has been said here. We just want the guy that is best for the job.
People that know the kids and will be a good role model for the kids and can deal with the community so they can take part of the process
Walker isnt from the franklin community and wins, melton isnt from the americas community and wins, famaligi isnt from the montwood community and wins, saban isnt from the alabama community and wins. Get out of here with that garbage thinking. How about hire the best football coach. Winning cures all
All the programs you named have a ton of winning tradition come on you can’t see that. Or they are in a heavily populated area come on someone has too get the kids out change the culture to where everyone is involved

Yes and who better to do that then someone from a winning culture. Why would you recycle someone from within who is already part of the bad culture.
Am no coach am a certified pipe layer lol just want the best for the community and it’s only my opinion but where they get he better win cause the lack of numbers is not an issue and if it’s gonna be the same song and dance don’t be surprised if I start a thread “I told you so”
I beg to differ on the numbers not being an issue. Across the board from 9th, JV to Varsity numbers are not the greatest. If not mistaken, in recent years wasn't the 9th grade disbanded during the season? I may have gotten this mixed up with Riverside though.
That's easy! It needs someone that graduated from there. And if there isn't anyone then find someone from that area; someone who can connect with the kids and the community. For example, look at Pichardo at Austin. He's a Bowie guy but knows the kids in that area and it's working.
There has to be a coordinator or assistant coach somewhere that fits that criteria.
Austin has changed the mentality over the past couple of seasons. Great to see. My brother played there back in the early 70's when I remember some great battles with Coronado! But lets also not forget that some of these schools such as Austin and Burges have had the help of a few new kids thanks to the military. Still, nice to see them win again.
I am an ex Tiger. I have news all this is a moot point. My wife works with the UIL Board of Directors and the word is Football around the State will be cancelled due to the pandemic. They are going to wait until Independence weekend to announce it because they don't want a riot. Only chance we have is if Mr. LoofLirpa the head of the W.H.O. knows we want it to continue. But what does someone all the way in Stockholm care about Texas HS Football?
This whole coaching search was a joke I heard they went ahead and had second round interviews but anyways if they cancel football season then they r going to cancel all sports and that would be sad just saying sad for the kids
Well it's not what you know but who you know...process was extremely shady. Mr. Paz got his boy, two guys that have connected Fathers. Guess it helps just a little. Good luck coach Aguilar.
Coach Aguilar did a great job out in San Eli the last few seasons. He changed the culture of the program and got everybody on the same page as far as athletics went. You could tell there was a different energy around the program. It may not have always shown up in the win / loss column, but in a community like that you're always going to have ups and downs as far as talent goes.
El Paso high made a good hire here. If anyone out there knows who were the finalists for the job then we could have a debate. However, I feel like this a good hire for the oldest High School in El Paso. Coach Aguilar will bring his own energy and enthusiasm to the school and the program. It will take some time to make El Paso a perennial contender in that tough district, however, I feel that you will be able to notice things slowly start to change around the football program and all other athletic programs at the school as well.
Lmao come on his dad just gave his son the job it was all bs but what do you expect from this district. Your telling me he was in such a hurry to leave San Eli he was a finalist at EPHS and Chapin. Episd has good OC and DC that work hard and never get a chance because of bs like this I’ll say this he is not gonna beat Austin he will have a tough time getting out of the lower shelf of that district Jeff is better so is Irvin and Austin is tough so who is he gonna beat Burges or Andress or will he beat Bowie he will struggle remember coach wells and Denenger how about Hernandez How did that go???

Did you really just call that district tough. Lol that's the funniest thing I have read today. May be the weakest district in the state.
