I've heard from multiple people that Paul was still being recruited as a Punter, so I hope that works out for him.
I don't think he'll get a scholarship anywhere, maybe a preferred walk-on spot. These injuries are devastating.
Coronado's kicker is really good. eduardo mendez i believe
ok mike menchaca is nowhere near being the best center in district the guy played only 3 varsity games this year got moved up for injuries and struggled throughout the whole year, yeah hes a bel air player but I can't allow there to be placed credit where it is not due, but dont forget joel nunez who finished 3rd in rushing, or tony martinez at TE had a good year stats wise and christian olivas as well at lb

Yeah, this is mainly to get an idea of what All-District 5A team will look like.
Frontz is a great player though, he would be on here if he was a 5A player.

INJURED PLAYERS WHO WOULD HAVE MADE THIS LIST:

MLB Anthony Gonzalez

Gonzalez might play at utep, Goodluck to that kid!
Some of the other players to consider but don't get looked at because of who they are
Adam mijares OT, Danny Hinojos RB, Elijah Blas WR, Larry Guiterrez DT, and Austen Parker QB
Since you don't have a center on your list I'll throw out another Franklin kid, Sam Manzanarez. Also, I think you need to include Josh Cuellar at QB from Eastwood. The kid had a great season.
what other centers were seniors for 5a? Coronado, Franklin, El Dorado?, Montwood?

I don't see how terrazas and cuellar can be considered "athletes" if they only played qb throughout the season. I never saw terrazas line up at receiver or run the wildcat, same with cuellar. I understand both are good, mobile qbs but if anything britton should be the "athlete". He lined up at wr, rb, qb, and ran the wildcat, something neither terrazas or cuellar did. Just my thought
I put them at Athlete because I saw them as better runners than QBs, I also think they would have made good WRs. I put Britton at RB, because I think that position was his strongsuit.
I wanted to include both Cuellar and Terrazas because they are both very good players, and did a lot for their teams offensively. However, I don't think that putting them at true QB would be right, when passing wasn't their strongest attribute.
Marcos Hernandez was listed as a RB, but I think he is a much better player as a WR, same with Warren Redix. These guys are much better with the ball in space.
I think this list is what these players would be considered as if they were being recruited.
OG:Mike Hernandez-Montwood
WR:Christian Hack-Franklin
OT:Christian Schwatner-Montwood
OG:Dante Salas-Americas
DE:Robert Rodriguez-Montwood
DE:Cody York-Hanks
DT:Adam Perez-Montwood
OLB:Bubba Garcia-Americas
CB:Jacob Castanedas
S:Eddie Rueda-Montwood
S:Nick Anabi-Coronado
heres another thought, there was another player in the 5a arena that did the same as britton, he also played linebacker on defense and was the long snapper. However since he plays for socorro, nothing is ever mentioned. the only guys ever mentioned are the ones that play for the big four. If this kid didn't play for socorro, he would have started at any other school. His name you ask is Austen Parker, those that know him knows what he can do, if you don't know who he is, there is next year and you will get to know who he is. He will be one of the top qb's in the 5A arena.
Parker will not be one of the best not with terrazas, Orlando Garcia, and Mickey cortney coming back Parker will not be better then any of them. Not only just because they are all better then him, but because they all have way better supporting cast.
Ok then just wait for next year when those other quaterbacks go head to head none of them can compare to what he can do for his team and socorros supporting cast is better then what their getting credit for...take cade away eldo will still be good take orlando away americas will still be good... so when austen #12 not #9 gets to perform, then we will see who is the best quarterback in 5A. When comparing parker to terrazas, the stats are even, and stats were better than garcia and courtney. Obviously you don't know who this parker kid is!!!
As for the stats with terrazas, he had the same amount of rushing yards playing only half the season. As for passing in half a season he matched up with the others. So much for knowing who you are talking about. As for playing the second half, again you don't know who you are talking about. He and the senior quarterback rotated like crazy since the coach decided on the gameplan. Next year will all be parker and then the words that you mutter will be changed. See you next year. As for the 70 points eldorado fan we will have a gameplan for that, so see you next year. Oh by the way terrazas only put up maybe 14 points in the game. So much for superhero. Also I see that you have problems reading considering that britton wasn't mention, I mentioned the qbs; terrazas, courtney, and orlando garcia. See you next year
Even though they didn't win a game and had the worst offense that you supposedly say doesn't reflect on parker. For half the time he played, he rushed for over 900 yards and passed for over 600 yards. Again only half the time. If he played the whole season no telling what his passing stats would have been. The boys that were mentioned played the whole time all year. We will see who has the better stats when he plays the whole game like the other boys. The two games he played the whole game he rushed for over 200 yards each game and passed for 200 yards. Again we will see who is the better quarterback next year. As for full stats, such as completions and attempts, unsure because the coaches didn't keep stats and I only tracked yardage.
again since you only kept your own sons yardage which is admirable and the fact that you are trying to talk him up is admirable you are still off on your statement. You said he did the same as all the rest passing and then just now you said he passed for 600 yards. If you multiply that by 2 then that would be what he had all year and it still doesn't match these other guys. Oh well I leave you with this. Your son plays on a horrible team and you are 1.) putting a target on his back 2.) putting undo pressure on him to succeed. I predict another season like they had this year. You also made a statement earlier that he could start on any other team. That statement is also incorrect. I saw him against us and he just doesn't have the skill set. Sorry to let you know that. I hope he has a great off season and you make a liar out of me but you just have made some boastful remarks that i just needed to set you straight on.
last thing a qb's number one job is to lead his team to victory something that parker did not do all year.
Let me get this straight, you say you saw him against one team, el dorado. Wow, did you see him play against eastwood in which he put up 30 points, what about bel air in which he put up 36. Americas in which he had two long runs for touchdowns. But that's right we only base his skills against one team and says he doesn't have the skills. Again if terrazas, orlando garcia, or courtney was on socorro, how would they do. So yes he can start for other teams like I mentioned especially if the team had a good defense such as americas, and el dorado. So my question is if the shoes were on the other feet how would your great qbs fare.
im done with it. enjoy your thanksgiving, Im going to bed.
Win a game then talk again thats the quarterbacks number one job.
Don't worry too much about it Bulldog. The worthy players on teams like Socorro and Eastwood will continue to be overlooked. Another example of this is #67 McNiel from Eastwood... this young man was an all district selection last season and a preseason EP times pick for all city. He was bigger stronger and more Dominant then last season and he got overlooked for the All Star classic. Sadly politics prevails and if their own coaches do not promote them correctly the worthy athletes from these teams will not get the recognition they deserve. The only answer is to transfer to more successful programs if it is important to get the recognition you deserve.
IM WITH YOU ON THIS ONE TROOPER X, THIS KID IS TALENTED BUT POLITICS LIKE ALWAYS RUIN IT FOR THESE KIDS...
First off let's get things straight macneill was second team all district last year. Also ask itself this there about 30 schools in elmpaso 15 on the west side which is where McNeill would fall under. 15 schools have 5 starters each that makes 75 starting offensive lineman on the west. They selected 10 so I think the selections were accurate. That's not even 1 lineman per team. If u just look at the numbers.
Just to add a bit of info about Courtney. He only played about 6 minutes in the fourth qtr of the first three games of the season. I cant speak for the other two QB's mentioned since I dont have knowledge of their total playing time.
Courtney is also only a sophmore and turned our team around this season. I cant wait to watch him the next two years.
Can anyone tell me, why Britton is considered to be one of the best "RB's", if he only played half the season at that position. He didnt complete the season, there are other notable names that are worth mentioning maybe considered better than him due to their roles. There are a few backs that had limited amount of carries for their respective teams and were huge contributors in big games. I would place these before I pick the Britton kid.
5A, the Chacon kid from Coronado did well and Vince Garcia from Franklin. The Chacon kid is a sophmore I believe and carried the ball consistently. Garcia did it about half the time since he shared time with Daniel Moreno and still put up numbers. I would even throw Moreno in the mix, smash and dash, were arguably behind Fields, considering Franklin was a passing offense. All three of these ballers did it consistently. Adonis is a good choice, consistant hard runner, but to say Britton is before these guys, even when he didnt finish half the season and didnt play in the big games for Montwood......not sure of that choice. Its all opinions, none the less they are all ballers......
What bulldawg? Parker did not have near what Terazas had in stats. Did Parker have about 1,000 rushing yards and near I think 1,800 yards passing?? I don't think any qb in either district had that combination of run and pass yards. You also mentioned that Parker had 600 yards passing and over 900 yards rushing. I don't think that entire offense had much more than 1,500 yards of total offense. If they did most of it was against the other teams back ups and in the second half. Cade showed he can throw and run, numbers don't lie. I think that's great you are a fan of your team and it's players. I also hope Socorro has a better season next year and can find a way to get more kids out for football.
Of course parker didnt , he played at socorro who decided to rotate their qbs constantly. Terrazas played the whole game on most occassions. So again we go comparing parker who played half a season and had the stats he had, and cade who played the whole season. The other aspect is if the shoes were on different feet, terrazas name would not be out there. Is name is out there because he plays for el dorado. I hope the best for the aztecs and we will see who the better qb is.
Bottom line is if Parker was the best qb at Socorro who wouldn't have been splitting time. I don't know any Coach in the world that wouldn't play his best players. Especially at Socorro where yet desperately needed a win. First be the best qb at Socorro then work on being the best in the city. Why don't we start another thread and see what everyone's opinion is about who will be the best qb next year. Here are the name that will be brought up. Terrazas el dorado. Garcia America's, courtney Coronado, Metz Andreas, and Gonzales Chaplin. These kids will no doubt 1) play for winning teams 2) be the leaders on the city in stats.
Just wanted to point out that People are free to change it around. Also, the order in which I put the names is irrelevant. I didn't put them in any particular order.
Just to let you know in the record books Socorro beat el dorado lol :D
No All Star selection at any level of the sport of football is perfect. It's just the way that it is.
I can post a list of players from the last 10 seasons that should have been selected to participate in the local El Paso All Star game but weren't. Heck there are college players that were selected to All Star games that shouldn't have been as well. This happens every year at every level even in the NFL.
No system or selection process if perfect. Whether it's who you know or who went up to bat for you does not matter because if you were selected there will still be many others who believe they should have been as well but weren't.
Every athlete believes he is deserving and every parent believes their kid is the next NFL star.
