| Vala Nyx Brownell was a young girl with a seemingly typical life. Her father owned a prosperous business in which she worked, she lived in a large house with an enchanting rose garden, and she had been named the maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding. But there were little things about Vala that separated her from everyone else. Her mother had died suddenly during her birth, leaving Vala to grow up with an aloof father. Her features, especially her incredibly dark-blue eyes, didn’t seem to resemble either of her parents. She had dreams every night but couldn’t recall anything but shadows the next morning. Although she had often written poems during her adolescence, lately the words didn’t seem her own. And then there was the mystery behind the meaning of her own name — Chosen of the Night. Suddenly, two FBI agents enter Vala’s life with a story of shadows and power that somehow include her. Bodies of girls resembling Vala begin to surface with their necks torn open. Vala’s dreams become clearer and more concrete, displaying the fate behind a name and with that, a prophesized dawning of a new breed and the loss of another — humans. | |

| Douglas Boren, author of Beyond the Horizons. In the early days of the Civil War, when things were going mostly for the South, the Confederacy planned to extend its empire to California, taking advantage of the Pacific ports and vast goldfields. But first, they had to secure the New Mexico Territory. For Mace Alexander and his friends, the Civil War was just the beginning. Through the crucible of war, they would become brothers… though not all would survive. In the broiling heat of the desert, and across sun-swept mountains, they would become frontiersmen. But the deadliest, most ruthless enemy of all awaited them… the Apache Snake Dancers! Their unholy sacrifices and blood crazed ferocity threatened to drive out the struggling white man forever. In the inevitable clash to come, there could be only one victor… one survivor. Only one to see… beyond the horizons. | |

| Both the content and direction of this book are so unique and such a refreshing departure from the run-of-the-mill "How to Beat the Slots" books. Forget about loose slot machines that are placed near the entrances to casinos or close to restaurant waiting lines. How do you suppose that rumor got started? Forget about the slot machine that has been played continuously for the past several hours and is now ready to pay. This is not a systems book and it is not a how-to book. Instead it is more of a why you can't beat the slots book, describing how slot machines are really programmed and thus controlled to function. This book goes against everything that has been written about slot machines. Playing slot machines is a very expensive form of entertainment and the bottom line is that there is no system that will beat a slot machine. | |

| This collection of poetry was written between 1987 and 2004; however, it serves as a personal memoir of my own life. The story tale fashion of each poem represents a deep impression upon my heart and soul, whether created by the influences of an individual, or a reflection of an incident, by which I was branded. This collection of poetry was titled as such, because with every event in our lives, and with each contact we experience with another person, there is an effect upon each of us, whereby we are changed. Therefore, when I come into contact with anyone, I conscientiously consider what influence; I will I have upon them. For, I realize now, just how powerful we can affect the lives of those around us, so I do my best to give away to all whom I meet—the tiniest seed. Michael David Correro - Poet/Author | |

| ‘Ways To Stay Miserable’ is a treatise about the trickery of the mind based on my experiences and observations. The theme of the book is at different levels but mainly about looking at ‘real’ and ‘imaginary’ events, reflections on self and others. ‘Mind’ is frequently used as a place for breeding images and thoughts from which experience comes. I have tried to distinguish melancholy from happiness, what it means “here and now.” | |
