Neb. mother accused of mistreating kids
OMAHA, Nov. 13 (UPI) --
A woman in Omaha has lost custody of four of her children in relation to a series of alleged mistreatments at her hands, court records show. The Omaha World-Herald said Wednesday that the woman, whose identity wasn't released, has been accused of leaving two of her children, ages 10 and 12, at home while traveling to Kentucky. The woman has also been accused of twice forcing her 6-year-old daughter to sit in the family car as the mother worked an eight-hour shift at an area hospital. The three children involved in those alleged incidents, along with their 14-year-old sibling, have all been placed into foster care as police investigate the allegations. Prior to the October incidents, the woman had lost custody of a 16-year-old son who is also in foster care. The woman's alleged actions came to light after an apartment manager contacted authorities on Oct. 10 regarding the two children left alone. The World-Herald said the manager learned of the alleged abandonment situation when the 10-year-old asked for a copy of an apartment key, having lost his copy.
