Sandy, Welcome to our little neck of the woods. I looked at the recipe and I think if you made it in a small crockpot it would take about the same time. You need to have the crockpot at least 1/2 full. That being said, the newer crockpots cook much hotter and faster than the old ones. 9-10 hours seems like a long time. I would think that no more than 8 hours would be good. I think that if I was making it I might put it together the night before in a casserole dish and then bake it in the oven for 45 min or so, probably at 350.
