Captain Richard Jones (1856 - 1938)

Hi,

I'm interested in finding out more information about my great-great uncle Captain Richard Jones.

He was born, lived and died in Caernarfon.
He was the master of "Thomas Hilyard" and "Astracana" which were fully rigged ships.
He was then harbour Master in Caernarfon until about the 1930's.
I have probably exhausted newspaper articles and other information available on the internet and I'm therefore interested to know if there are any other sources of information available, especially photographs.

His father was also a sea Captain of the same name and I'm looking for information about him.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise.

Mark

Re: Captain Richard Jones (1856 - 1938)

Mark,

I'm afraid that I don't have any further information about Captain Richard Jones to hand. Have you tried the maritime collections at the Caernarfon and Llangefni Record Offices?

Also, the Caernarfon RO might have something in their photographic collection.

If it's the same family, then the Joneses have had a long association with the post of Harbour Master.

Your query will remain open, so hopefully someone will see this and be able to help

Regards,

Keith.
