I am trying to trace an artist by the name of Eric Hemingway. I have acquired thirty good drawings by him. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1958 - and was clearly a trained artist but seems not to have had much of a career. I have addresses for him in London at 129 Beaufort St, SW3, London (in 1958) and at 105 Oakley St, SW3 London (no date).
I would be grateful if anyone could tell me more about him. His drawings are sensitive and interesting. I think he may have been an acquaintance of Quentin Crisp, who also lived at 129 Beaufort Street around the same time (the building had a number of small flats).

many thanks

Will

Hi Maurice,
Is there any reason that your list of famous Hemingway does not include Wayne Hemingway MBE of \'Red or Dead\' fame?
Regards,
Sandra.

I came across this site and am very interested in the DNA project. I am hoping to find the origins of my family, but as they seem to be about 8 miles away in Halifax, we don\'t seem to have travelled very far!

I was wondering if you know of any Hemingway reunions that will be held this year (2013). My wife & I would love to attend any, if planned.

Reply by Maurice :
Certain that there will be one in Canada during July / Aug. This is centred on the Hemingways that emigrated and settled in Canada but all are welcome. It will probably be a one-day \"picnic in the park\" get together. I don\'t know of any others proposed at the moment. Anyone else know?

I discovered that your Spring 2008 Journal contained an article about Sheila Valerie Pamela Ogna Charlotte Katherine Hemingway. I am trying to find out more about her as I believe she is my father in-law's cousin. Does anyone know if she has any living relatives? My father in-law is soon to be 90 and I'm trying to find any relatives he may still have living from that side of the family. As far as I know, Sheila is the daughter of his aunt, Ogna (nee Hicks). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Several sources have indicated that Rev John Eliot\'s diary indicates that Ralph indentured himself as a servant in order to come to New England. I cannot find that diary nor can the Mass Historical Society. Also I am interested in participating in the Hemingway DNA Study but found the reference pages in this web site not making a connection with how to participate.

Many thanks John. There are sadly several unanswered questions about Ralph and a great shame that records have not yet been found to describe his life before 1630 in any detail.

The currect DNA Programme is being transfered to FTDNA following their takeover of DNA Heritage and the links to that revised project will then be created (as at 3 Dec 2011). I hope you will be one of the first new members when we get the group fully functioning again. Maurice

I've just come across your site. Been doing research on my line for about 20 years. Been stuck on Hiram G. Hemenway, b ~1806, New York (state) US, for about 15 years. There is at least one other Hiram Hemenway born in New York about that time but my gr gr gr grandfather died young in 1849. He was notably married to Angelina Allerton, 5th great granddaughter of Isaac Allerton who sailed on the Mayflower. Just wondering if anyone had further information or ideas about where to turn.

I’ve just found this site by chance and am amazed at the amount of research you’ve done. Congratulations.
My great x3 grandmother was Frances Hemingway of Dewsbury. She was born in 1769, married Richard Ward in 1795 and died in 1844, still in Dewsbury. I’m fairly sure she was the daughter of Abraham Hemingway who married Frances Craven in 1761 in Dewsbury. I’d like to be able to confirm this and research further back but finding it difficult. I wonder if anyone has any information which might throw a light on this. On your index of deaths, I’ve seen the record of Abraham Hemingway, cornmiller, who died in Dewsbury on 11th Feb 1799. Could this be the father of Frances? I have the All Saints Dewsbury index of burials and, unfortunately, there are six Abraham Hemingways buried between 1794 and 1799. Does anyone know of any way to get more details of these burials? Thanks.
